As the deforestation continued throughout most of Europe into the 20th century, Scandinavia took another turn and heavily increased their wood reserve during the last hundred years. Still today, the growth is much greater than the amount felled. Firewood isn’t normally a product made from the finished harvest in Scandinavia but rather generated from thinning operations, done to improve the health of the remaining forest.
